Overview
Following an exceptional academic career at the University of Miami School of Law – where she graduated magna cum laude, earned Dean’s List recognition, contributed to the University of Miami Business Law Review, and received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement for excellence in pretrial litigation and mediation – Mrs. Mijares was admitted to practice law in Florida in 2015. Since then, she has focused her expertise on workers’ compensation and labor and employment defense litigation.
While her work is primarily grounded in these areas, Mrs. Mijares exhibits a multifaceted passion for the legal system. This nature is reflected in her academic research under Professor Caroline Mala Corbin, a leading scholar on the intersection of First Amendment rights and equality issues, as well as through her early immigration from São Paulo, Brazil, to the United States – her introductory exposure to the complexities of the legal world. Her unique journey is aided and complemented by her trilingual aptitude; she is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Before becoming the attorney she is today, you could find Mrs. Mijares around the world, on clay or grass tennis courts, learning the lessons of a champion, which she would carry later into her professional practice. Competitive and driven, a strategic and creative thinker, relentless in her pursuits – this is the mindset Mrs. Mijares extends off the court and into the office. Outside the office, Mrs. Mijares wears the many hats of a hard-working mom, as she proudly raises four littles – Olivia (6), Luciana (3), and Rafael and Mateo (2).
As your attorney, Mrs. Mijares offers a direct yet empathetic approach, complemented by transparent and highly responsive communication. Guided by the values of community, integrity, and resolution, she builds lasting relationships with her clients and advocates for them with tenacity and heart. Inspired by her legal hero, the brilliant and gritty former Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Mrs. Mijares tirelessly pursues meaningful outcomes – both big and small – for those who entrust her with their legal needs.
