Overview

Barbara Jimenez, a Miami-based attorney and Cuban native, joined Walton Lantaff’s staff in 2023. After moving to the United States at age seven, Ms. Jimenez’s early interests in language, culture and American institutions developed into an interdisciplinary course of study at Emory University, where she earned degrees in Spanish and History. As an undergraduate, she enriched her understanding of Spanish literature and provided free language tutoring to her fellow students, beginning her professional path of pairing intellectual rigor with service for others. Ms. Jimenez received her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2023, graduating cum laude. During law school, she distinguished herself through involvement in the Inter-American Law Review and the Immigration Clinic.

Before her time at Walton Lantaff, Ms. Jimenez clerked for the Coral Gables County Court and the Florida Supreme Court. Her primary area of practice centers on first-party property insurance defense matters, and she is currently developing experience in workers’ compensation, family, and automobile liability cases. She manages files from early investigation through resolution, including trial preparation and courtroom support, and frequently serves as second chair. Ms. Jimenez is fluent in English and Spanish.

Detail-oriented and methodical, Ms. Jimenez approaches advocacy with disciplined precision. She is known for her confidence in complex, procedural problem-solving, and describes the defense of her clients as both analytically and creatively demanding. Her early service on Emory’s honor council sharpened her interest in credibility-driven evaluations, developing her defining professional strength of investigative prowess. Outside of her practice, Ms. Jimenez enjoys running and fitness, relaxing with a new film, and spending time with her husband, Marcos, and their puppy, Penny.

As your attorney, Ms. Jimenez brings focus, consistency and sharp intellect. Her early experiences, academic explorations, and office presence further inform her persona, as she is known for her humble, kind and composed nature.
