Stephen G. Kaufer is a Senior Partner in Walton Lantaff’s West Palm Beach office. Prior to joining the firm in 2001, Mr. Kaufer had a significant background in insurance defense. This included the position of corporate counsel for a multi-state third-party administrator handling matters regarding state compliance and the establishment of both homogeneous and diverse self-insured funds, as well as drafting contracts between the funds and their members. While Mr. Kaufer’s main area of practice is workers compensation defense, he also handles first-party insurance coverage litigation and commercial real estate matters to include litigation and the drafting of contracts.
Mr. Kaufer has significant experience in the area of workers compensation and is frequently called upon to be a speaker at various seminars and events, including for Palm Beach County RIMS and PRIMA. In addition, he was appointed in 1996 by the President of the United States to serve as a Local Board Member for the Selective Service.
Mr. Kaufer is a die-hard Gator stemming from his love for and attendance at the University of Florida in Gainesville. As a huge Gator loyalist, he has enough memorabilia to start his own museum. After the University of Florida, he graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law. Stephen is married to Miri Kaufer, and together they have a beautiful daughter, Alexandra. Stephen is also a stepfather to Miri’s daughter Gabbi.
Mr. Kaufer loves to travel and is a scuba diver with over 40 years’ experience. He is known for cruises to exotic locations including the Baja Peninsula and throughout Polynesia where he takes gorgeous pictures that amaze his coworkers and staff.
