Laz Rodriguez is a senior partner with Walton Lantaff Schroeder & Carson, LLP, having joined the firm in 1998. Mr. Rodriguez handles a statewide litigation practice which includes a wide array of insurance defense related matters. Mr. Rodriguez has extensive experience defending workers’ compensation claims in all phases, as well as handling cases from pre-suit through trial in various civil litigation / insurance defense sub-areas, including 1st party property, 3rd party / bodily injury, bad faith, professional liability, medical/dental malpractice, premise liability, and automobile negligence, as well as professional administrative actions before the Department of Health, and in numerous jurisdictions throughout the State of Florida.
Mr. Rodriguez is a member of The Florida Bar, and is admitted in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Dade County Bar Association and the Cuban American Bar Association. Mr. Rodriguez earned his Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School in 1998. He received both his undergraduate degree and his Master in Business Administration from Florida International University, in 1994 and 1997 respectively.
In addition to handling his own caseload, Mr. Rodriguez manages one of the firm’s largest litigation defense groups composed of partners, associates, paralegals, and legal assistants. He has also served on numerous firm leadership / management committees over the years and is currently the chair of the firm’s Marketing Committee.
Mr. Rodriguez is married to his beautiful wife, Nancy, for 22 years. They have 3 amazing boys. In addition to his devotion to his family and the firm, he also enjoys staying fit / exercising regularly, traveling, and has a passion for sports which includes rooting for his beloved Yankees and hometown teams (Dolphins, Heat, and Marlins).
