Ft. Lauderdale Office
Ms. Leahy's areas of practice include trial and trial
preparation of all areas of general liability and
insurance defense, including premises liability,
automobile accidents, negligent hiring and retention,
negligent supervision and insurance coverage cases. She
also represents insured employers and third party
administrators in all aspects of workers' compensation
defense. Ms. Leahy has been awarded an AV rating by
Martindale-Hubbell.
Her work also
includes employment discrimination defense on behalf of
management including Title VII, ADA, and ADEA claims.
Additionally, she has prepared appellate briefs and
presented oral arguments in premises liability, insurance
coverage and workers' compensation cases.
She is
admitted to practice before all Florida courts, the United
States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeal
for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States District
Court, Southern District of Florida and Middle District of
Florida.
Ms. Leahy
received her Juris Doctor at Nova University, and her
Bachelor of Arts from Lycoming College, where she
graduated Magna Cum Laude. Her professional memberships
and affiliations include The Florida Bar (Labor and
Employment Section and Workers' Compensation Section), the
Broward County Bar Association and the Society for Human
Resource Management.
She is a
frequent lecturer on the topics of workers' compensation
in Florida and on labor and employment law, including the
ADA. She is also certified by the Florida Department of
Insurance to teach accredited continuing education
seminars.
