Area of Practice and Experience

Jim Armstrong's primary area of practice involves all areas of civil litigation with emphasis in the areas of Florida Workers' Compensation claims, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act cases and general civil litigation, including personal injury cases.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Armstrong was a Senior Civil Litigator for the CNA Insurance Companies in the South Florida Office.

In addition to practicing law Mr. Armstrong was a Coast Guard Officer who retired from the Coast Guard Reserve in 1993 with the rank of Commander (O-5).
Professional and Civic Activities

One of four contributing authors of the Florida Workers' Compensation Desk Reference Manual published by the National Education Network (1994) and one of six contributing authors to Injuries in the Workplace in Florida published by the National Business Institute. In 1995 co-authored a comprehensive manual, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation in Florida, for the National Business Institute. In 1996 co-authored, Workers' Compensation Law for Paralegals in Florida, for the Institute for Paralegal Education. Contributing author of Winning Your First Civil Trial in Florida: What They Didn’t Teach You in Law School in 2005 and Evidence: Strategies for Finding, Preserving and Using Evidence to Support Your Case in 2007, both were published by the National Business Institute.

Mr. Armstrong was certified by the Florida Department of Insurance as an instructor in 1990 for teaching continuing education courses for insurance adjusters and claims professionals.

Mr. Armstrong provides pro bono representation to abused and abandon children as a member of Lawyers for Children America, Inc.

Mr. Armstrong was elected to the national board of directors of Lawyers for Children America, Inc. in 2009 and serves on their Regional Leadership Council.

Mr. Armstrong received the volunteer attorney Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court Guardian Ad Litem Pro Bono Attorney Award in 1987 and 2002.
