• John P. (Jack) Joy is a Senior Partner in the firm.

Insurance Coverage Law

• Mr. Joy serves as coverage counsel for several national insurers providing insurance policy analysis; coverage opinions; advice on the proper handling of coverage disputes; and, representation of clients in insurance coverage litigation in state and federal courts.
• His practice for clients in the area of insurance coverage law extends throughout the state of Florida.
• Mr. Joy co-authored the 1995 and 1996 editions of Insurance Coverage Law in Florida, published by National Business Institute. 
• He is a member of the Insurance Law Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and has served as a lecturer at Florida Bar Continuing Legal Education classes on insurance coverage law. 
• Mr. Joy is certified by the Florida Department of Financial Services as a continuing education instructor and presents frequent seminars for the insurance industry in the areas of insurance coverage law and the proper handling of insurance claims.

Appellate Law

• Mr. Joy is the senior appellate attorney at Walton Lantaff.  Over the course of his 30 year legal career, he has handled approximately 200 appellate matters. 
• Mr. Joy has handled appellate cases in all Florida state and federal appellate courts, including the First DCA, Second DCA, Third DCA, Fourth DCA and Fifth DCA; the Florida Supreme Court; and, the federal Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (Miami and Atlanta divisions).
• He has numerous published decisions in state and federal appellate courts in the areas of tort and insurance law. 
• Mr. Joy’s most noteworthy appellate victory was the 1993 decision of the Florida Supreme Court in Dosdourian v. Carsten which reversed a multimillion dollar verdict against Mr. Joy’s client and declared “Mary Carter” settlement agreements void as against public policy in the state of Florida.
• Mr. Joy is a member of the Appellate Law section of the Florida Bar.
