Area of Practice and Experience

Mr. Probst is a Senior Partner in the Miami Office and handles a statewide practice in the area of insurance defense litigation.

Mr. Probst joined Walton Lantaff Schroeder & Carson LLP in 1978.
-
He served as Managing Partner of Walton Lantaff from 2002 to 2008.
-
Throughout his career, Mr. Probst has practiced primarily in the area of insurance defense litigation and has handled virtually every form of insurance defense matter in the numerous jurisdictions and venues throughout Florida, including jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, and administrative hearings.

Mr. Probst is also frequently retained as an attorney’s fee expert.

Mr. Probst has also received an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Probst is certified by the Florida Department of Insurance as an Instructor for continuing education credit for insurance adjusters.

For over 25 years, he has lectured throughout the southeastern United States on insurance defense matters.

Mr. Probst has also appeared as a guest on the television show “Workers Compensation Today”.
Professional and Civic Activities

In 1997, Mr. Probst was honored by the Friends of 440, Inc., when he was awarded the Defense Attorney of the Year Award.

He was also honored in December of 2008 as the Defense Attorney of the Year by the Treasure Coast Section of the Friends of 440 Scholarship Fund, Inc.

He has also been named by his peers as one of South Florida’s top lawyers in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 by the South Florida Legal Guide.

In addition, he has been named by his peers as one of Florida’s top lawyers in Florida Super Lawyers in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Mr. Probst served as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Counsel for Florida International University College of Law from 2008 through 2010.

He is also a member of the Board of Trustees and past president of the South Florida Workers’ Compensation organization, The Friends of 440, Inc., and is also a member of the Board of Directors of The Friends of 440 Scholarship Fund, Inc.

He is a past President of the Notre Dame Club of Greater Miami and the Board of Directors of Boystown of Florida, Inc.

He has also served as Chair of the Board Directors of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami.

In addition, Mr. Probst served as a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Academy Advisory Board, wherein he also served as Chair of the Board for two years.

He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of His House, which is a home for dependent, abused, or neglected children.

While in law school, Mr. Probst worked as a licensed insurance adjuster for the independent adjusting firm, Lally Adjustment Bureau.

He is also admitted in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Probst is also a member of the Dade County Bar Association, and is the former chairman of Florida Bar Grievance Committee 11-D.
Education

Mr. Probst earned his juris doctor degree from Nova University Law Center in 1978, where he graduated with honors.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 wherein he graduated cum laude.
